ABOUT ICRC
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral, and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance. The ICRC also endeavors to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles. PURPOSE
The ICRC Seoul Mission’s main task is to familiarize the government, the military, decision-maker, civil society, and academia with the ICRC’s humanitarian work and emergency response around the world. The mission also aims to promote awareness and implementation of international humanitarian law, the legal framework that seeks to minimize human suffering caused by war.
Under direct supervision of the Communication Manager, the intern will work in Seoul, Republic of Korea and provide daily support in the Communication Department.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Streamline and manage ICRC Korean blogsite, Facebook page and YouTube channel
2. Work with the Communication Manager on digital communications strategy planning
3. Pitch ideas for content creation and management for ICRC social media platforms
4. Work with the Communication Manager on managing and updating production materials
5. Daily media monitoring and support with other communication-related tasks
6. Simple translations, when needed
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree or above in digital media, communications, or other related fields
• Excellent verbal and writing skills in English and Korean
• Knowledge and experience in social media content creation and management and data analysis
• Interest and passion for international affairs and humanitarian work
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
• Highly organized and attentive to details
• Self-driven, with the ability to multi-task
• Good team player, culturally sensitive and enjoys working in a diverse context
Internship duration and pay:
The intern for this position is expected to work for six months, extendable if needed.
It is required to work at least 5 working days per week. (Working days and hours are negotiable)
Payment will be negotiated after the interview.
